Advocacy

Disability advocacy

If people with a disability have difficulty speaking up for themselves, disability advocates and advocacy agencies provide a critical role in ensuring that the rights and interests of people with a disability are respected and realised. An advocate may:

  • Help you to find information about services
  • Assist you to access services
  • Assist you to review your service to make sure it meets your needs
  • Act as your representative to communicate or negotiate with CSI on your behalf
  • Help you lodge a complaint or feedback about services you receive
  • Assist you to negotiate suitable resolutions if complaints or disputes have arisen
  • Attend and be involved during assessments and reviews of your personalised support
  • Assist you to communicate with CSI or other services on your behalf
