Essential requirements for self-employed Support Workers
CSI Support Workers are self-employed and are therefore responsible for obtaining an Australian Business Number (ABN) from the Australian Taxation Office, maintaining records of income and expenses incurred and arranging insurance. CSI can assist with these, including accessing a tailored insurance scheme and withholding tax on request.
Support Workers must meet certain requirements to ensure that consumers receive quality services. Prior to becoming a CSI Approved Support Worker, you will need to attend an interview, agree to a National Criminal History Record check and reference checks. You will also need to produce evidence of a current driver's licence, vehicle roadworthiness check and a registered vehicle.
It is essential that Support Workers have a genuine interest in working with people with a disability. It is desirable that they have either recognised training or practical experience in supporting people with the activities of daily living.
